When was the last time you took at a look at your airbnb bio for your Short Term Rental? Your Bio on your OTA listing account (Airbnb, VRBO etc), your direct booking website OR even your instagram or Facebook? Last week, I emailed out to my list and got some fantastic comments and messages back with clients, past and present, sharing their bios. Did you know your Airbnb Bio will help you convert more Lookers into Bookers? This means more money in your pocket.
I’ll bet you wrote your bio when you set up your account and haven’t looked at it again since. Before you dissolve into a puddle of shame, just know you are not alone.
When I am doing listing audits for my clients, this is one of the areas I look at. Believe it or not, this is a really key part of your marketing strategy that can have you standing ahead of the other hosts in your area. If you think about Airbnb like you would Tinder, you really want to be putting your best qualities out for the world to see, take notice and swipe⦠oops, I mean book.
Before I make a booking on Airbnb, I read through the host bio 100% of the time and often base my final choice for booking on how much I relate to the host. I am guessing that I am not alone. So having a fab bio can really increase your conversions.
So what makes a great bio?
Firstly your photo – even if you have a corporate logo, here is not the place to use it. Guests want to see a REAL photo of the hosts. They want to know that their money is going to real people. You don’t need to have corporate headshots or professional photos, just a clear photo of you and your family. No fake celebrity photos or a photo of your dog or a landscape – YOU.
If you want to turn a regular photo into an awesome one, there are plenty of sites like this where you can create one for free.
Next the copy… Introduce your guests to YOU. Who are you, why did you get into hosting, what are some fun facts about you? Most importantly, why is it that you love hosting? Talk about why you love your location and why you think that guests will love it too.
TAKE ACTION
So this weekend, grab a cup of coffee and open up a new document on your computer. Write up your bio in a relaxed and casual way. Let guests into your world and see your humanity. People buy from people. This should only take you around 30 minutes or less time for your coffee to get cold.
Want a real person to take a look at your bio – ie ME? Share the link in the comments below and I will answer you personally.
TOP TIP – naturally you can mention your company name – for my listing, I put it right up the top. This will help if people want to google you and find your direct booking site.
